Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent. Ashes made from palm crosses are blessed and are used to make the sign of the cross on people’s foreheads.

In this we remember Jesus dying on the cross to take away our sins.

And so by receiving the ashen cross we say sorry and turn away from sin. Let us come together to remember our Lord’s sacrifice on the cross for us all and begin our journey through Lent.
