Worship with Children

Children are not just welcome at our worship services; we actively encourage them to come along and join in. Just like adults, children have different ways they choose to express and explore their faith and we aim to walk alongside them as they do so. It is not a one size fits all, so we want to listen to children and families to enable them to flourish as we journey together. Often the tendency when bringing children to church is to sit at the back to try to keep children quiet, but that can have the opposite effect. We invite children and families to sit at or near to the front, not to keep children quiet but so they are more able to see what is going on and join in if they wish, when children are able to engage it means that parents/carers are more able to relax and join in too.

Sunday mornings St Andrew’s host Worship Zone. This is a time for children aged 5-11 to come together explore the Bible in a fun and interactive way. Sessions are usually based on the lectionary readings for that week (the readings used in the main service) but sometimes different themes may be explored. It is a time of friendship, where they can listen to, help and encourage one another, ask questions and find answers together.
