Daily reflection – Tuesday 14th April

‘ I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the sharing of his sufferings by becoming like him in his death, if somehow I may attain the resurrection from the dead.’ Philippians 4: 10 & 11

One of the comments I have heard about this period we are living now, is that in future we will refer to time as ‘before Covid19’ and ‘after Covid19’. That could well be the case, at least for some time to come. Some say that life cannot return to normal until we have a vaccine, some are saying life will never be the same again. Consider this.

Jesus is alive! How incredible it must have been for Jesus’ friends. It was literally life-changing, empowering and awesome; for them, life was never the same again. And as the power of God was released through his people, that event was so authoritative it changed the course of human history.

We proclaimed on Easter Sunday that Jesus is alive! We can proclaim it every day!  Let’s not forget that even simple prayers connect us with our God who is not only loving, but holy, omniscient, almighty. How often do we fail to live in the power of the resurrection? God never gives up on us or abandons us, and never will. It is he who gives us strength in difficult times like this, and he who gives us confidence in the future, whatever that may be like.

May every day be for you a fresh experience of resurrection life, new life, in Jesus Christ.
