Intercessions for Sunday 3rd July 2022 from Nicola Firth

St Thomas the Apostle

In the power of the spirit and in union with Christ, let us pray to the Father.

Lord God, we lift before you the universal church, all of those brought together through faith in Christ. We ask that you help us to see, recognise and praise you through the ups and downs. We know that for many life can be complicated, for some declaring your name is dangerous, they are persecuted and ostracised. We ask for you to draw near to all your people today, those who have not seen, yet still they believe.

Lord in your mercy, Hear our prayer.

We pray today for our diocese, the bishops, archdeacons, area deans and all clergy. We ask for a fresh outpouring of your spirit upon them, give them strength, courage and wisdom, that they may grow in faith and lead your people. Lord, we think you for all of those in lay leadership and ministry, those with hearts that are open to step out in faith and serve for your glory.

Lord in your mercy, Hear our prayer.

God of abundance, we lift up to you our parish of St Andrew with Holy Cross and the community we serve. We ask for you to give us vision and lead us in the way you want us to go. Help us to serve humbly and to see you in the places that may not always be visible. Break our hearts lord for the things that break yours, and equip us to go out into the world sharing the good news. We thank you for the buildings you have entrusted us with, and we ask that every person who walks through the doors for whatever reason, will feel your presence with them.

Lord in your mercy, Hear our prayer.

Father of justice, we pray for our world leaders. Just watching the news can leave us feeling shaken, distraught and in despair. We ask that all leaders come under your rule and submit to your will. We pray with confidence and hope, for a time when your world will be a place of peace and justice for all.

Lord in your mercy, Hear our prayer.

Creator God, we pray for the natural world and all of its resources, this place you made and its abundant provision. Help us to right the things that have gone wrong, for the damage caused to be undone, so that all beings and life can once again thrive.

Lord, in your mercy, Hear our prayer.

Father who sees and knows us, in a moment of silence we bring before you all who are in any kind of need, those on our weekly prayer diary, the parish WhatsApp, the those we hold in our hearts and those known only to you.

Merciful Father
accept these prayers
for the sake of your Son,
our Saviour Jesus Christ.
Amen.

Please feel free to use these intercessions for your own prayers, or in your own service.

(We sometimes gain inspiration from the prayers on the website of the Costa Blanca Anglican Chaplaincy. Please do visit their site too !)
